One afternoon in early spring (read: 2nd winter in Minnesota) Bob Olsen–president of the Twin Cities Horn Club, area horn instructor, and all around fount of horn knowledge–and I were having coffee and swapping teaching stories and advice. We were both commenting on how hard our students have been working and that many of them had prepared solos for MMEA All-State auditions or for Solo and Ensemble but didn’t have a chance to perform them otherwise. Then it dawned on us–we would host a JOINT RECITAL to celebrate our students’ hard work and to offer them and their friends, families, and horn peers the chance to hear them perform. Thus, the Mother’s Day Horn Recital at Falcon Heights UCC was born! We are thrilled to offer our students and audience a chance to hear solos for horn and piano, duets and trios for small horn ensemble, and a mass choir performance by members of both studios.
